Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani is delighted the club have been able to sign midfielder Ronaldo Vieira to a new contract as he rates the youngster as one of the brightest prospects in the country.

Vieira has just signed off on a breakthrough campaign for Leeds under Garry Monk, which saw him make 38 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He has now committed his future to the Elland Road outfit until the summer of 2021 and Radrizzani is pleased the Whites are holding on to such a hot prospect.

"One important [piece of] news was that today Ronaldo Vieira has extended his contract and is staying with us for an additional four years", the Italian said on LUTV.

"It represents a big achievement for one of the best talents in the country to stay with Leeds United", he added.

Vieira had caught the eye over the campaign and there were suggestions Premier League clubs could come calling for the 18-year-old.

Leeds are now in a better position to make sure they keep hold of the former Benfica youngster.

This summer Vieira has been called up by England Under-20s for the Toulon Tournament, where another good showing could boost his reputation still further.
