Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he does not know whether he will be able to get his signings in through the door for the start of pre-season training.

The Reds brought down the curtain on their season with a friendly fixture away in Australia against Sydney on Wednesday, running out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Klopp's men will be playing Champions League football next season after finishing in fourth spot in the Premier League and the German is expected to strengthen his squad ahead of a run of two matches every week, if Liverpool can navigate the playoff round.

But while he would like to have fresh faces in the squad by the time the group meets for pre-season, he struck a pessimistic note on whether that will be the case.

Asked at a press conference when new signings will arrive at the club, Klopp replied: "I wish tomorrow but unfortunately that's not really likely.

"The best scenario is that you have them for the start of pre-season but I'm not sure if it will happen this time.

"It's different with all different players so we will see.

"That's not a big problem because we all know if they are fit and healthy we have a really strong squad and that means we could start with this squad", the Liverpool boss continued.

"But that doesn't mean that I would prefer this, I would love to have them in as soon as possible but we will see."

It remains to be seen how much money Klopp will be given to spend this summer by the club's American owners, Fenway Sports Group, but the German made a profit on his dealings last summer.
