Rangers target Paulinho has signed for Braga, joining the Portuguese top flight club from second tier outfit Gil Vicente.

Gers boss Pedro Caixinha had been linked with wanting the 24-year-old attacker at Ibrox as he aims to retool his Rangers squad ahead of the forthcoming campaign, which starts early for the Scottish club due to their involvement in the Europa League qualifiers.

But it is Braga who have won the race for Paulinho and he has put pen to paper on a contract running until 2021 at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.

Paulinho is delighted to make the jump from a second tier club to a side that finished fifth in the Primeira Liga this term.

He told the club's official site: "It's a big leap, leaving a second division club for a big club like SC Braga, it's a big leap for any player coming from a lower tier.

Paulinho made a total of 38 appearances across all competitions for Gil Vicente in the current campaign and hit the back of the net an impressive 19 times.

Braga booked a Europa League spot for next term this season, meaning they could meet Rangers in the competition.
