Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool are getting better and are improving in all aspects of their game, which can be seen from their points tally and a top four finish this season.

The Reds, who ended the 2015/16 campaign in eighth spot with 60 points, beat Middlesbrough 3-0 last weekend to seal a fourth-place finish with 76 points.

And Henderson thinks Liverpool having 16 more points in their kitty this term than last season clearly shows that the club are getting better and are significantly improving, with the midfielder saying that the players have taken on board manager Jurgen Klopp’s ideas.

“We’re getting better”, he said on LFC TV, when asked what getting 16 more points this season suggest about the team.

“We’re improving in all aspects of the game.

“I think we’re becoming more mature as a team.

“And obviously improving on the training pitch, listening to what the gaffer has to say and how we can improve as a team and individuals.

“Everyone has taken that on board throughout the season and everybody has been working really hard and we got our rewards at the end of the season with a top four finish.”

Henderson, who admitted that Liverpool would have liked to win silverware this season, however feels a top four finish is a step in the right direction for the Merseyside giants.

“We would have liked to win something as well, but you have got to take one step at a time”, he continued.

“And it’s [a top four finish] a big achievement since I’ve been here.

“We want to be in the Champions League, so I think it’s a good step in the right direction for us and it will help us develop as a squad.”

Henderson, who has been sidelined since the end of February with a foot injury, made 27 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season, scoring once and setting up four goals.
