Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is not expecting any club to invoke the release clause in Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann’s contract.

The 26-year-old forward is Manchester United’s top target for the summer transfer window and the club have received enough signals in recent days that the Frenchman is keen to move to England.

Griezmann has rated his chances of joining Manchester United at six out of ten and he also said earlier this week that he feels ready to move from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

However, Cerezo is not aware of the Frenchman’s intention to leave Atletico Madrid and stressed that neither Manchester United nor any club are yet to approach them for the forward.

He also added that he is not expecting any club to invoke his €100m release clause.

Cerezo told RMC: “He never told me about his desire to leave.

“There has been no approach from Manchester United and for now, no one came to offer us his release clause.

“And I don’t think anyone will.”

With Manchester United qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League on Wednesday night, the club are more confident of landing the Frenchman in the summer.
