Reading midfielder John Swift feels his side’s narrow win over Leeds United at home in April was a highlight of the season.

The Royals are preparing for the Championship playoff final on Monday where they will be taking on Huddersfield Town at Wembley to compete for promotion to the Premier League.

Reading beat Fulham over two legs to book a ticket for Wembley and Swift has reflected on crucial turning point of the season, which he feels propelled his team forward this season.

The midfielder feels a 1-0 win over Leeds on April Fool’s Day provided crucial momentum for Reading towards the end of the campaign.

Swift said in a press conference: “Beating Leeds was one of this season's highlights, it really pushed us up there.”

While he insisted that his side are keen to get a win on Monday, Swift was quick to point out very few actually gave Reading a chance to be in such a position at the start of the season.

“Everyone doubted us at the start but look where we are now.

“After the season we will look back at how well we've actually done.

"But we want to win on Monday.”
