Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala is hopeful of convincing Pep Guardiola about his qualities but admits that he is in the shop widow in the summer.

Guardiola shipped out the Frenchman to Valencia on loan last summer and there are suggestions that the defender doesn’t feature in his long term plans at Manchester City.

The 26-year-old, who played regular football at Valencia this season, is set to join Manchester City’s pre-season camp in July and Mangala is hopeful that he will be able to show his quality to Guardiola to get a place in the squad.

He insisted that he learned a lot tactically under Guardiola in the one month he spent working under the Spaniard last summer but admits Manchester City could be planning to let him go in the upcoming months.

Asked if he can convince Guardiola in the summer, Mangala told French sports daily L’Equipe: “That is another issue, yes.

“This is a coach who has his own ideas.

"I was fortunate to receive his wisdom for a month and I can tell you that I progressed, especially tactically, in just a month with him after two years at City.

“I want to believe that I can convince him, but today I am in the market and there will be offers in the summer.”

Mangala, who has made 64 appearances for Manchester City, has a contract until 2019 with the club.
