Marseille are certain that negotiations over a contract are on track with Chelsea and Southampton linked defender Boubacar Kamara and the club are confident of holding on to the starlet.

Still just 17, the young defender is already the captain of Marseille's Under-19 squad and is being touted as one of the best young talents to come out of the club’s academy in recent years.

Kamara has been on the radar of several top clubs, with sides such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton and Borussia Dortmund believed to be spying on the opportunity to sign him.

Marseille made a fresh and improved offer of a new three-year contract to the player’s representatives earlier this month and are going all out to keep him at the club.

And according to La Provence, club sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is confident that negotiations between the French club and Kamara’s representatives are on course.

Marseille are desperate to keep hold of him as they feel the youngster is a symbol of the club’s academy and their training methods and has a bright future in the game.

Kamara is set to feature against Montpellier’s Under-19 side this weekend and Marseille are confident it will not be his last game for the club.

The defender has also been part of France’s Under-18 set-up and has made eight international appearances at the level.
