Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose says Manchester City new boy Bernardo Silva is the best player he faced this season.

Pep Guardiola's men have just splashed out £43m to snap up Silva from French champions Monaco and the midfielder will officially join the Citizens on 1st July.

Silva, 22, was one of Monaco's key players this season and Rose locked horns with him when Tottenham played against the principality outfit in the Champions League.

Rose admits he could not get near the Portuguese and talked up his talent.

"I played against him away this season and he's the best opponent I faced", the Tottenham full-back said on BBC Radio 5 live.

"I couldn't get near him.

"It's a great addition and gives Pep Guardiola another attacking option", Rose added.

The 22-year-old is a product of Benfica's youth academy and moved to Monaco, initially on loan, in 2014.

He was heavily used by the Stade Louis II outfit this term, making a mammoth 58 appearances with eleven goals and 12 assists provided for his team-mates.
