Garry Monk is heading off on a holiday following his departure from Leeds United, amid continuing links with the vacant managerial jobs at Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace.

Monk, who took charge of Leeds last summer and guided the club to a seventh place finish in the Championship, surprisingly stepped down from his post earlier in the week.

Under the 38-year-old’s stewardship, Leeds put in a serious promotion push in the recently concluded season, but finished just a place and five points adrift of the playoffs.

Following his impressive spell at Elland Road, Monk has no dearth of suitors and he has been linked with Crystal Palace, while currently being one of the favourites to take over at Middlesbrough.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Monk is now going off on holiday, something which suggests he is not imminently about to put pen to paper with a new club.

Crystal Palace are in search of a new manager, following the sudden departure of Sam Allardyce on Monday, and Monk has Premier League experience, gained at Swansea City.

On the other hand, Boro, who suffered relegation from the Premier League, are also on the lookout for a new boss.

Incidentally, Aitor Karanka, who was sacked by Middlesbrough in March, is in the running for the Leeds United job.
