Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes believes Celtic would be “extremely disappointed” if they miss out on the treble, given the quality of players they have at their disposal, coupled with their performances in the present campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ team, who have already won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup this season, will face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final later in the day.

Celtic managed to win the league title without a loss and the Hoops can finish their entire domestic campaign unbeaten if they beat the Dons at Hampden.

And McInnes, who thinks it would be a “real anti-climax” if Celtic lost the Scottish Cup final, feels the Bhoys should have won the treble in the last few seasons.

However, the 45-year-old admitted that Aberdeen can have a season to remember if they return home from Hampden as Scottish Cup winners.

"All my interest is on tomorrow's game and preparing the team”, McInnes said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"While we put ourselves under pressure to deliver, we have had a very good season and we will still have a very good season if we lose.

“But we can have a brilliant season, a season to remember, a special season, by winning this.

"I think the level of player Celtic have and the performances they have produced, anything other than a treble would be extremely disappointing for them.

"I think it would be a real anti-climax and not something that was expected if Celtic weren't to complete a treble.

“I think more Celtic teams should have won the treble in the last few years and for whatever reason they haven't.”

Aberdeen, who have lost five times in all competitions to Celtic this season, finished as runners-up in both the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup.
