Manchester City are in advanced negotiations with Benfica and Ederson’s representatives over the signature of the Brazilian goalkeeper in the summer.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been on Pep Guardiola’s radar in recent months and Manchester City are currently undertaking decisive moves to secure his signature.

According to Portuguese daily Record, the Brazilian is just a step away from joining the Premier League giants and Benfica’s Portuguese Cup final against Vitoria this weekend is expected to be his last game for the club.

However, negotiations are still under way and Benfica are only set to receive half of the transfer fee from his sale, with the other half going towards his former club Rio Ave.

The Portuguese giants are keen to earn as much as possible from Ederson's sale and the goalkeeper's release clause is €40m.

Manchester City are finalising the fine print of the agreement with Jorge Mendes, the goalkeeper’s agent, and the deal is expected to be pushed over the line in the coming days.

And Ederson is expected to become the second Mendes client, after Bernardo Silva, to join Manchester City this summer.

The goalkeeper was also on Manchester United’s radar as a potential replacement for David de Gea, but it seems the Brazilian is now Etihad bound.
