AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has urged Manchester United linked goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to make a decision over his future soon.

The 18-year-old goalkeeping prodigy has a contract until the end of next season and talks over a new deal have dragged as his agent Mino Raiola has continued to stall.

Manchester United and Manchester City are said to have been keeping a close watch on proceedings and there are suggestions that patience is running thin in the AC Milan camp.

Club CEO Fassone has indicated that while threats of making Donnarumma sit in the stands next season were exaggerated, the club want a decision from Raiola and his client soon.

Though he remains confident that AC Milan have placed a good offer on the table for the young goalkeeper, the club want to remain prepared to active a plan B if Donnarumma decides not to sign a new deal with the Rossoneri.

Fassone told Premium Sport: “We want to know from Raiola, whether we have a goalkeeper or not for next season.

“As you can imagine, no club would have a goalkeeper like Donnarumma in the stands, but we cannot have a goalkeeper at Milan with a contract that is about to expire.

“We need to have a plan B if things don’t go in the direction we hoped.

“I am convinced that our offer and plans for him are good, but if the answer is negative for any reason, we will activate plan B.”

Donnarumma has been AC Milan’s first choice goalkeeper since the age of 16 and also made his debut for the Italian national team last year.
