Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is keen to play regular football next season ahead of the World Cup and is not deaf to interest from Ligue 1 clubs in the summer.

Giroud remained an important player for Arsenal this season and scored 16 goals in all competitions but there are suggestions that he could be considering his future at the club.

He made just eleven starts in the Premier League and while he was pivotal in providing the pass for Aaron Ramsey’s winner in the FA Cup final, the Frenchman was only thrown late into the game from the bench.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Giroud feels he can’t afford to have one more similar season ahead of next year’s World Cup and has been seeking assurances from Arsene Wenger.

The striker has met the Arsenal manager twice in recent days to discuss his position at the club and is desperate to play football in the starting eleven next season.

With the emergence of Kylian Mbappe this year, the Frenchman is aware that he needs to do a lot more next term to find a place in the France’s World Cup squad for Russia.

Lyon and Marseille have been interested in signing the player in the summer and Giroud is aware that he could have an option to move back to France for regular football.

And with Arsenal expected to invest in forward areas, the situation could become untenable soon for the 30-year-old striker at the Emirates.
