Atletico Madrid are prepared to make a move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa should Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann leave the club in the summer.

The Spanish giants have shown a confident face in public regarding their insistence on holding on to Griezmann, but the club are making contingency plans in private.




Atletico Madrid are aware that Manchester United are prepared to trigger the forward's €100m release clause, with the Frenchman yet to make a definitive decision on his future.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Los Colchoneros are ready to make a move for their former player Costa should the Frenchman decide to leave the club in the summer.
 


Costa’s future at Chelsea is also in serious doubt because of interest from the Chinese Super League, but the player has said in recent days that he will only leave west London for a return to Atletico Madrid.
