Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud has confirmed that Chelsea and Southampton target Boubacar Kamara has signed a professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old defender has been at Marseille since the age of five and is currently the captain of the club’s Under-19 side.




One of the best young players to come out of the Marseille academy, the young defender has attracted the prying eyes of clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Southampton.

Marseille have been talking with his representatives for months to try to get him to sign a professional contract and have been desperate to keep hold of their academy jewel.
 


And the club have succeeded as president Eyraud revealed his delight at confirming that Kamara has pledged his future to Marseille by signing a contract.

The Marseille president posted a photo on Twitter and wrote: “From the age of five at OM, the adventure continues for Boubacar Kamara.

“[He is] a strong symbol for our project.”

Kamara is also considered one of the top young prospects of French football and has eight caps to his name for the France Under-18s.
