Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts has insisted that come what may, he has thoroughly enjoyed turning out for Celtic during his loan spell at Parkhead.

The 20-year-old, who was snapped up by Manchester City from Fulham in the summer of 2015, joined Celtic in February 2016 on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal in search of regular first team action, which was difficult to come by at the Etihad Stadium.

Roberts will return to Manchester City, but Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers admitted earlier in the month that he would love to sign the winger permanently if the Citizens are willing to let him go.

On the other hand, Manchester City could consider sending Roberts on another loan spell in the summer, this time to a Premier League club or abroad to gain more experience.

And Roberts, who scored 11 goals and provided 19 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded season, explained that whatever happens in the future, he will fondly remember his time at Celtic.

“Whatever happens it has been a pleasure to play for this club”, he posted a picture on Twitter of the entire Celtic team posing with the three domestic trophies they won in the 2016/17 campaign along with the caption.

“Thanks to the staff, players and fans for an unforgettable season.

“Hail Hail.”

Roberts played a key role in helping Celtic finish their entire domestic campaign without a single loss and win the treble.
