Rangers are continuing to hold talks with Portuguese side Vitoria as they bid to reach an agreement to sign defender Fabio Cardoso.

Gers boss Pedro Caixinha wants the 23-year-old centre-back at Ibrox as he looks to reshape his squad ahead of an early start to next season; the Gers are involved in the Europa League qualifiers.

So far Rangers have not been able to do a deal for Cardoso, but according to Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol, talks are continuing as Caixinha wants the former Benfica B man at Ibrox.

Rangers have already signed veteran Portuguese defender Bruno Alves on a two-year deal and are closing in on forward Dalcio Gomes.

Caixinha is also chasing another Portuguese player in the shape of winger Daniel Candeias, meaning if all the deals he has on the burner come off, Rangers could soon have four new Portuguese stars.

Vitoria only snapped up Cardoso from Benfica B last summer.

He helped Vitoria to finish in 12th spot in the 18-team Portuguese Primeira Liga this season and caught Caixinha's eye in the process.
