Rangers are close to signing Mexican striker Eduardo Herrera from Pumas.

Gers boss Pedro Caixinha is using all his contacts in the game to reinforce his squad at Ibrox and 28-year-old hitman Herrera appears to be set to play his football in Scotland next season.

The striker is, according to Record, just a work permit and medical away from becoming a Rangers player and the finishing touches to the move are expected to be completed by the Scottish club next week.

Caixinha knows Herrera from his time in charge of Santos Laguna, and is turning to the striker to add to his attacking options.

There are still minor details to iron out, but Herrera is expected to link up with countryman Carlos Pena at Ibrox.
