Garry Monk agreed a deal to become Middlesbrough manager on Friday and is taking Leeds United first team coach James Beattie with him to the Riverside Stadium.

It was claimed on Saturday that Monk and Beattie are set to head for Boro and now further detail has emerged on when the agreement was concluded.

According to Radio Yorkshire's Head of Sport Derek Clark, the deal was officially agreed between Monk and Middlesbrough on Friday.

Boro, who were relegated from the Premier League this season, are to announce Monk as their new manager in the coming days.

Monk is to take Beattie with him from Leeds, meaning the Whites will need to look for a new first team coach.

Beattie received plaudits over the course of the campaign for his work with striker Chris Wood, who netted 30 goals in all competitions, following on from a season where he had managed just 13.

As such, losing Beattie could be a big blow for Leeds.

However, it has been claimed Monk's assistant, Pep Clotet, wants to remain at Elland Road.
