AC Milan's bid to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid has hit complications, owing to Manchester United’s interest in the striker and an apparent promise made to his former club Juventus, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer after struggling to become a regular starter under Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.

AC Milan, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been credited in showing interest in Morata, who scored 20 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded season.

It has been claimed that AC Milan are willing to spend €60m on Morata, who also reportedly said yes to a €8m per contract at the San Siro.

But it seems Manchester United’s interest in Morata is complicating his proposed move to AC Milan.

It is also believed that the 24-year-old, who previously played for Juventus between 2014 and 2016, was reminded of his promise to not play for any other club in Italy by his former team-mates, following Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over the Serie A champions in the Champions League final last weekend.

AC Milan are not pleased with Morata’s attachment to Juventus, it has been suggested.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United manage to take advantage of the sudden impasse between Morata and AC Milan, with the striker's proposed move to the San Siro now in doubt.
