Pumas president Rodrigo Ares de Parga says his club did all they could to smooth striker Eduardo Herrera's move to Rangers.

The hitman arrived in Scotland earlier this week and is set to complete the formalities of a permanent transfer to the Glasgow giants, though he will need a work permit.

Herrera will link up with former Santos Laguna coach Pedro Caixinha at Rangers, adding to the Portuguese's attacking options.

The striker's club side, Pumas, made every effort to help the deal go through in light of how excited Herrera was at the switch, president Ares de Parga revealed.

"The club made a great economic effort to accept an offer from a large European club because Lalo was excited to go and play in Europe, in addition to with a large European club, in a not very strong league, but to one of the two most important clubs in Scotland", the president was quoted as saying by Superlider.

"It was a great effort, he will pass his medical examinations this week and we will finalise the transfer on Thursday or Friday, a definitive sale", he added.

Rangers have so far made three signings this summer, bringing in defender Bruno Alves, midfielder Ryan Jack and forward Dalcio Gomes, as they revamp their squad.

Herrera will be one of two Mexican players joining Rangers, as the Gers are also snapping up midfielder Carlos Pena.
