Rangers have announced the capture of forward Dalcio Gomes on a season-long loan deal and the talent has instantly set his sights on helping the Gers back to the summit of Scottish football.

Dalcio joins Rangers from Portuguese giants Benfica and is set to join up with his new team-mates after passing a medical with the Ibrox outfit.

The forward, who has regularly featured for Benfica's B team, is delighted to have linked up with Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha and wants to help put the Gers back on top.

Dalcio told Rangers TV: "What attracted me was the history of the club, the size of the club, and mainly, the supporters – the amazing fans the club has.

"The gaffer was a real influence on me too. I know he is really competitive and ambitious, and that was the reasons I wanted to join him", he continued.

"The manager has said he is here to help me and to improve me. On the club, we need to put it on top where it belongs."

Dalcio is Rangers' third signing of the summer transfer window, following the captures of Bruno Alves and Ryan Jack, as Caixinha aims to reshape his squad ahead of an early start for next term in the Europa League qualifiers.

The forward has Europa League experience, having turned out in the competition against Fiorentina and Lech Poznan.
