Santos Laguna president Alejandro Irarragorri believes it is wonderful that Pedro Caixinha is taking Mexican players to Rangers and revealed the Portuguese is interested in potentially adding a third Mexican to the squad at Ibrox.

Rangers are set to sign midfielder Carlos Pena and striker Eduardo Herrera, though both players need work permits before their moves to the Scottish giants can be officially signed off.

Caixinha used to manage Santos Laguna and is using his full knowledge of the Mexican game to hunt reinforcements for Rangers.

His next move could be to return to his former stomping ground for a Santos Laguna star, Irarragorri admits, with the president happy to see Caixinha introducing Mexicans into European football.

The president was quoted as saying by Mediotiempo at the Annual Meeting of Mexican Football: "Very interesting and good, we love the idea, I talk a lot with Pedro and he has a reason why he goes for those two players that he has looked for.

"There is a Santos player that interests him and we are talking about it.

"I understand very well and I think it is wonderful that we can contribute to the internationalisation of Mexican football.

"There could be three Mexicans playing in Scotland", Irarragorri added.

Rangers have already been linked with one Santos Laguna player in the shape of defender Jose Abella.
