Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule has revealed that although Chelsea were interested in signing him, he did not have to think too hard before saying yes to a move to Bayern Munich.

In January, Bayern Munich announced that they had signed Sule on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee, with the centre-back set to join the Bavarians once the summer transfer window opens on 1st July.

Besides helping Hoffenheim’s defence, the 21-year-old scored twice and set up three goals in 34 appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded season.

And Sule, who was aware of Chelsea’s interest, insisted that the decision to join Bayern Munich was a no-brainer for him as no Premier League outfit could offer the charm which the German giants have.

The centre-back went on to add that he wanted to continue playing in the Bundesliga and prove himself with the best team in Germany.

"There was interest from Chelsea”, Sule said to Sport Bild.

"[Joining Bayern Munich] it was just the right step for me.

“The Bavarians are among the top three clubs in the world, so I did not have to think long.

“[Turning down a] move to England was quite easy for me; I wanted to stay in the Bundesliga and prove myself at the best team.

"The fact is, no club from England could offer the charm which the Bavarians have.

“Bayern are not dependant on investors and also don’t get as much TV money as the clubs in England, but they can still compete with the very big clubs in world football.

“The club is in an impressive position.

“That's why I decided to join.”

Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were also linked with Sule last summer.
