Rangers new boy Fabio Cardoso is certain in Pedro Caixinha the club have the right manager to take them back to the top of Scottish football.

Caixinha has moved quickly in the transfer market and Cardoso’s arrival at Rangers on Wednesday means the Portuguese has already snapped up four new signings this summer.

The defender became the third Portuguese to join after Bruno Alves and Dalcio Gomes, and the Rangers manager again played a key role in snapping up Cardoso from Vitoria Setubal.

Cardoso admits that he had extensive conversations with the Rangers manager before joining the club and is confident that the Portuguese is the man to take the club back to the top.

He told Rangers TV: “I met Caixinha for the first time in the airport and I spoke to him a lot.

“I like him and what he had to say, and I think he is the right person to put Rangers where it belongs, which is first place.”

The 23-year-old defender is also confident that the physical nature of Scottish football is going to suit him.

“I know the football [in Scotland] is very physical and the players are strong.

"I think it is a good way of football for me.”

Cardoso made 23 appearances for Vitoria in the Portuguese top tier last season and will be keen to make his mark in Scottish football with Rangers.
