AC Milan have touched base with super agent Jorge Mendes and are keen to explore the possibility of signing Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

Costa dropped a bombshell on Wednesday night when he revealed that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has told him that he is no longer part of his plans going forward at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old striker is now looking for a new club in the summer and there have been murmurs of interest from the Chinese Super League, but it seems he could have a taker in Italy.

The recent developments have sprung AC Milan into action and according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the Rossoneri have got in touch with Mendes to discuss the possibility of signing Costa.

The Portuguese is the striker’s agent and he is tasked with finding a new club for his client in the summer – AC Milan have made sure that their interest is known to him.

With Alvaro Morata being pursued by Manchester United and Torino holding out for big money for Andrea Belotti, AC Milan feel they could get a top striker in Costa at a relatively reasonable price in the summer.

The striker himself has been keen to return to Atletico Madrid but with the club banned from buying players this summer, a transfer move is unlikely as Costa has made it clear he doesn’t want to sit idly for six months.
