Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has stressed that the club have done their maximum to hold on to Chelsea linked winger Federico Bernardeschi.

The 23-year-old’s future at Fiorentina has been a subject of much speculation over the last few months, with more and more clubs showing an interest in signing him in the summer.

Chelsea have been regularly linked with a move for the Italian and even Manchester United are said to have been interested in taking him to England, with Juventus believed to be his Italian suitors.

Fiorentina have made an offer to renew his contract with the club and Corvino believes they have gone beyond their means to make sure Bernardeschi continues with La Viola.

He conceded that the club expected an answer from the player’s camp by now but is confident that Bernardeschi will eventually choose to sign the new deal with Fiorentina.

Corvino was quoted as saying by Calcio Mercato: “We have made an offer beyond our means to let him continue his relationship with us.

“We have done the maximum and have long waited for an answer, which has not arrived yet.

“We have said to his agent that we are confident because the guy has shown a willingness to stay.”

The winger’s current deal with Fiorentina expires in 2019.
