Inter Milan have requested extra time from Atalanta before they take a decision on making a bid for Liverpool linked defender Andrea Conti.

The 23-year-old defender is edging closer to the exit door at Atalanta and despite interest from clubs such as Chelsea and Liverpool, it seems he will be staying in Italy.

AC Milan are set to meet Atalanta and his agent later today to discuss the possibility of signing Conti and it has been suggested that the defender is angling for a move to the Rossoneri.

Inter are also interested in the Italy international and are aware that AC Milan currently have the edge in the chase for the young defender in the summer.

According to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, the Nerazzurri have requested Atalanta wait until next Tuesday before they agree to sell the player to any club.

Inter are keen to buy time before they prepare an offer that could rival AC Milan’s proposal and hope to turn Conti’s head from moving to the Rossoneri.

Conti, who made his debut for Italy against San Marino last week, has a contract until 2021 with the club.
