Inter Milan have moved into pole position to sign Chelsea linked winger Federico Bernardeschi from Fiorentina, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Fiorentina this summer, despite La Viola’s best attempts to hold on to him.

Chelsea have been regularly linked with a move for the Italian, with the Blues’ Premier League rivals Manchester United also said to have been interested in taking him to England.

Juventus and Inter too have been credited with sowing interest in Bernardeschi, whose present contract with Fiorentina runs until 2019.

But it is believed that the Nerazzurri are currently best placed to snap up the former Crotone man, whose agent has already met with the Nerazzurri’s hierarchy.

Inter sporting director Walter Sabatini and coach Luciano Spalletti have given their nod to the move and the San Siro outfit are prepared to pay Bernardeschi an annual salary of €3m, it has been claimed; Fiorentina are offering him €2.5m per season.

Juventus are still keeping tabs on the situation and it seems Bernardeschi has until the end of this month to decide on his future.

He was in fine form in the 2016/17 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.
