Tottenham Hotspur have been in contact with Matthias Ginter's agent.

Spurs sent scouts to check up on the Borussia Dortmund defender during Germany's 1-1 draw against Denmark in an international friendly on Tuesday.

Ginter clocked up 66 minutes at the Brondby Stadium, with the Spurs talent spotters watching on.

According to German daily Bild, the scouts filed glowing reports on Ginter and as such, Tottenham quickly made contact with the defender's agent.

Ginter had been set for Hoffenheim, but Tottenham's entry into the race complicates matters for the Bundesliga club.

With Dortmund having signed centre-back Omer Toprak from Bayer Leverkusen, Ginter has been minded to quit the Ruhr giants.

And a switch to the Premier League with this season's runners-up Tottenham could be an attractive proposition for the 23-year-old, who would be expected to cost €20m.

He first though wants to hold talks with new Dortmund coach Peter Bosz.

Dortmund signed Ginter from Freiburg in 2014 and locked the promising centre-back down on a five-year contract.

He helped Dortmund to win the German Cup this term.
