Former Motherwell midfielder Simo Valakari is certain that Alfredo Morelos will be a top signing for Rangers and he has the ability to step up to the plate in Scotland.

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has been chasing the 20-year-old Colombian striker and the club are said to be prepared to offer £1m to HJK Helsinki to sign the hitman this summer.

Morelos scored 27 goals for the Finnish outfit last season, including four strikes in six Europa League games and Valakari believes that the striker has the all round game to succeed in Scotland.

The former Motherwell midfielder feels that despite his high current levels, the Colombian has the ability to further progress and will be a terrific signing for Rangers if they can get it done.

And he is confident that the young striker will have little trouble in stepping up to the plate in Scotland and getting used to the country’s style of football.
