Manchester United target Alvaro Morata did agree to a possible transfer to AC Milan before changing his mind about a move back to Italy after the Champions League final, it has been claimed.

The Spain international’s agent is said to have told the Real Madrid hierarchy that his client wants to leave and he is believed to be on his way to Manchester United this summer.

It has been suggested that Manchester United are close to agreeing a €73m fee with Real Madrid for Morata and the player is expected to arrive in England next week to complete the move.

However, before the Champions League final there was talk of Morata moving to the Rossoneri and the player reportedly agreed the terms of a contract with AC Milan too.

According to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, the strike indeed agree to a move to the San Siro and even spoke with AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella about the transfer.

However, it has been claimed that he suffered a change of heart following winning the Champions League with Real Madrid and AC Milan are no longer in the chase for Morata.

It was suggested recently that at the final his former Juventus team-mates reminded him of a promise he made never to play for another side in Italy.

Manchester United are said to be close to taking advantage of the situation and are currently favourites to sign the 24-year-old striker from Real Madrid.
