New Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk insists that he is not concerned about the reception the Leeds United fans will give him when he returns to Elland Road next season.

The 38-year-old quit his post as the head coach of the Peacocks abruptly in May after a successful season in which the team narrowly missed out finishing in the Championship's playoff spots.

Monk has since taken up the manager's role of a recently relegated Middlesbrough side and has said that he needed a new challenge after leaving Elland Road.

However, as far as the reception he expects when he visits Elland Road next season is concerned, the young manager said that it does not matter.

“That doesn’t matter. People will have different opinions. My only focus is Middlesbrough Football Club and doing the best job I can", the manager said at a press conference.

As far as his the thought process that went into opting for Middlesbrough is concerned, Monk said that after weighing  upall his options he decided that the job ticked all the boxes.

"I left Leeds and then I went away for a few weeks on a family holiday and obviously you weigh up what your options are but to be honest with you, as soon as I spoke to Middlesbrough the situation was clear.

"It ticked all the boxes and I though we’d fit very well."
