Juventus are looking to accelerate negotiations for Liverpool target Stefan de Vrij, according to Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

The defender, whose present contract with Lazio runs until 2018, has been linked with leaving the Italian outfit this summer.

It has been claimed that Liverpool have already made an offer for De Vrij, with whom they have also agreed the outlines of a contract.

But the Reds’ offer is well below Lazio’s asking price and it has also been suggested that the Dutchman is not opposed to penning a fresh deal with the Biancocelesti, though his representatives are pushing for him to move.

Juventus and Chelsea too have been credited with showing interesting in De Vrij and it seems the Serie A champions are ready to step up their chase for the 25-year-old.

The Bianconeri, who have also been linked with Lazio’s Keita Balde, are expected to soon meet the Stadio Olimpico outfit over the possibility of taking the duo to Turin.

It remains to be seen if Juventus’ growing interest in De Vrij prompts Liverpool to make a new and improved bid for the centre-back, who made 27 league appearances in the recently concluded season as Lazio finished fifth, qualifying for the Europa League.
