Paris Saint-Germain met Marco Verratti’s agent early on Monday to discuss the Chelsea linked midfielder’s future at the club.

The Italian midfielder is pushing for a move out of PSG after a disappointing season where the club failed to defend their Ligue 1 title and were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

PSG are desperate to hold on to the player and according to Sky Italia, the club’s sporting director, Antero Henrique, met the midfielder’s agent on Monday morning to hold talks over his future in the French capital.

The Parisians are said to have stressed the importance of Verratti to the club to his agent and are prepared to offer him a new and improved contract to hold on to him.

However, it has been claimed that Verratti has other ideas and is keen to push for a move to Barcelona, who are said to be interested in taking him to Spain in the summer transfer window.
