Barcelona are not showing willingness to meet the asking price for Manchester United linked defender Nelson Semedo.

The 23-year-old right-back has been linked with a move away from Benfica this summer and there is speculation that a number of European big wigs are after him.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are said to be interested in snapping up the Portuguese, but at the moment Barcelona are leading the chase for his signature.

He has a €60m release clause in his contract, though Benfica are prepared to accept a lower fee of around €50m for the player, but according to O Jogo, Barcelona are not keen to meet that price.

The Catalan giants are interested in taking Semedo to Spain and have been in talks with Benfica but at the moment, they believe the price tag for Semedo is too steep.

On the other hand Benfica are not interested in selling him for anything less than €50m and have demanded Barcelona to pay up, taking a tough stance in the transfer saga.

Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes is handing the negotiations between the two clubs and it remains to be seen whether the famed negotiator can make Benfica and Barcelona reach common ground.
