Real Madrid are prepared to play the waiting game with Manchester United and are unwilling to lower their €90m asking price for Alvaro Morata.

Manchester United and Real Madrid were reportedly close to agreeing a fee of between €75m to €80m and an agreement was said to be on the horizon.

However, it seems the negotiations between the two clubs are set to drag on, as according to Marca, Real Madrid have made it clear that they won’t lower their €90m asking price.

Real Madrid are in no hurry to lose the Spaniard this summer and both the club and Zinedine Zidane were more than satisfied with his performances last season, despite not being a regular starter.

Morata wants to play regular football next season and has a taker in Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, who wants to make the Spaniard the lynchpin of his attack at Old Trafford.

However, Real Madrid are digging the trenches for a long round of negotiations and have made it clear that Manchester United will have to pay €90m to secure the striker’s signature.

They are aware that Morata is Manchester United’s top attacking target for the summer and they are ready to make the club pay a transfer fee as close to their asking price as possible.

The European champions are prepared to take the negotiations until the final day of the transfer window if necessary to make sure Manchester United pay the best price possible.
