Everton are set to step up on their interest in AC Milan winger M’Baye Niang and are poised to make an offer for the Frenchman.

The 22-year-old winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Watford and the Hornets had an option to sign him on a permanent contract for a set fee of €18m.

There was talk of Watford trying to renegotiate those terms and it seems they are unlikely to take up the option of signing him, but Niang could still feature in the Premier League.

Everton have been keeping tabs on the Frenchman over the last few months and his name was mentioned when a delegation from the club met AC Milan on Wednesday for transfer talks.

And it seems Everton are prepared to make a more concrete move to sign Niang as according to Italian broadcaster Premium Sport, the Merseyside club are set to place an offer on AC Milan’s table.

It remains to be seen whether Everton offer the €18m that AC Milan want or look to negotiate the price down as it seems the Italians are planning to sell Niang this summer.

Ronald Koeman has watched the Frenchman in action last season in England and is pushing Everton to take Niang to Goodison Park ahead of the start of the new term.
