Josh Windass admits he is "gutted" after Joe Garner completed a move from Rangers to English Championship outfit Ipswich Town.

Former Rangers manager Mark Warburton splashed the cash to take Garner to Ibrox from Preston North End last summer and hoped the striker would tear defences in the Scottish Premiership apart.

Garner struggled to make a big impact though and new Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has allowed him to head back down south.

While Caixinha may be confident of replacing Garner, Windass indicated that off the pitch at least, the striker leaves a big, big hole.

He posted a photograph of the two celebrating a goal together and wrote on Twitter: "Gutted to see the roomy leave and one of the funniest guys you'll ever meet.

"All the best for your next chapter swashy boy", Windass added.

Garner, 29, scored just ten goals for Rangers last season, picking up bookings (eleven) more often than he hit the back of the net for the Gers.

He had two years left on his contract with Rangers, but now reinforces Mick McCarthy's options at Portman Road.
