Celtic have one fewer club to worry about in the battle for Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts as talk Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town want the Englishman is wide of the mark.

The 20-year-old spent the last 18 months on loan at Celtic and played a key role in Brendan Rodgers’ side winning the domestic treble in Scotland last season.

The Scottish champions have been keen to secure him on a permanent contract, but the jury is still out on whether they can succeed.

He has again been linked with a loan move away from Manchester City this summer and there were suggestions that as many as 12 clubs are vying for his signature.

Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town have also been linked with Roberts, but according to Radio Yorkshire, the club currently have no interest in the Manchester City youngster.

As such, Celtic will have one fewer club to battle for Roberts.

There have also been claims that the player’s representatives have held talks with Ligue 1 outfit Nice over a loan move and the Englishman could be interested in a switch to the club who finished third in the French top flight last season.

A move to Nice would see Roberts link up with former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.
