Celtic have slapped in a bid of €5.5m to sign young defender Jean-Kevin Duverne.

Just 19 years old, Duverne has caught the eye with his performances in the French second tier with Lens, where he clocked up 37 appearances in the recently concluded campaign.

Celtic are alive to Duverne's talents and, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, have upped the ante in the chase for his signature by making a bid of €5.5m.

It is unclear whether Lens will accept the bid, while Duverne is also being chased by a number of other clubs.

The young defender, who operates as a centre-back, has a further two years left on his contract at Lens.
