Real Madrid are considering freezing negotiations with Manchester United over Alvaro Morata in the wake of speculation surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United have been in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid for the signature of Morata and the striker has already given his consent to a proposed contract with the Red Devils.

The Red Devils have been hoping to get the deal over the line and the two clubs are scheduled to meet next week, where they are expected to close out an agreement over a fee.

However, Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid has been thrown into fresh doubt after it emerged that the Portuguese superstar has told the club that he wants to leave this summer.

The 32-year-old is angry over the tax fraud allegations that have been brought forward in Spain by a state prosecutor and is prepared to push his way out of Real Madrid.

With Ronaldo’s future at the club uncertain, Real Madrid are currently rethinking their decision on Morata and according to AS, they are considering putting negotiations with Manchester United on hold.

The 24-year-old was their second highest goalscorer last season and if they lose Ronaldo, Real Madrid would be in no mood to sell another one of their attacking players in the summer.

It remains to be seen how Manchester United react if Real Madrid cancel their meeting next week as they are also expected to show an interest if Ronaldo indeed wants a new club this summer.
