Ajax legend Marciano Vink believes Davy Klaassen's move to Everton is a win-win for both the player and Ajax, but he admits the jury is out on whether the player will succeed at Goodison Park.

The Dutch midfielder has joined the Premier League club for a fee of €28.5m, getting his reward for another good season at the Amsterdam ArenA, during which Ajax reached the final of the Europa League.

Vink thinks that Ajax simply had to let Klaassen go for the money on offer, while the with midfielder wanting to leave the Netherlands, the transfer was a no-brainer.

"His transfer is a win-win situation", the former Ajax man told ELF Voetbal.

"For Klaassen it's a very good step", he continued.

"He had already hinted he would like to go abroad. Then the sum is offered. If the boy is ready for it, you have to let them go.

"Then if you are able to get €28.5m – there are only winners."

However, on the subject of whether Klaassen will be able to do the business for Everton in the Premier League, Vink is less sure, believing that after Memphis Depay flopped at Manchester United, all bets are off.

"Put Memphis Depay in the Premier League and beforehand you'd have said 'yes'.

"In the end, he looked more like a star than he did with his football.

"And defensively of course, he isn't that type.

"Davy will know about the adaptation problems.

"But I hope that he finds his role, then he can bring the same as he brought at Ajax", Vink added.

Klaassen will have the benefit of playing under a Dutch manager at Everton, with Ronald Koeman in the dugout.
