Newcastle United are only willing to loan out goalkeeper Matz Sels to Anderlecht if they agree to pay his full salary.

The 25-year-old Belgian goalkeeper joined Newcastle from Gent last summer and after starting last season as the club’s first choice between the sticks, he lost his place in the starting eleven.

With Rafael Benitez keen to sign a goalkeeper this summer, Sels has been deemed surplus to requirements and Anderlecht have been working hard to sign the Belgian in the upcoming window.

A loan deal has been mooted and Anderlecht were hoping that Newcastle would like to pay a portion of the player’s wages to smooth the agreement but it seems Magpies are not prepared to play ball.
