Celtic could well see their €5.5m offer for defender Jean-Kevin Duverne accepted by Lens, it has been claimed.

The Bhoys have slapped in a bid for the 19-year-old centre-back in the hope of taking him to Scotland to bolster Brendan Rodgers' squad this summer.

Duverne sparkled as part of a Lens side that narrowly missed out on booking a return to Ligue 1 in the recently concluded campaign.

But he may not be around at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis for next season's promotion push.

Indeed, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Lens could well respond positively to Celtic's bid of €5.5m for Duverne.

While the Ligue 2 side rate the young defender highly and he turned out in 37 of the club's 38 second tier games last term, the sum put on the table by the Scottish champions is tempting.

Other clubs could yet join the race for Duverne, but Celtic have taken a concrete step and appear keen to wrap up the signing of the young defender.
