Jordan Amavi has confirmed that Aston Villa have put him on the transfer list, following an honest talk between himself and the Championship club.

The defender made 34 appearances in the Championship for Villa in the recently concluded campaign, but he does not want another season in England's second tier, following the club's failure to win promotion back up to the Premier League.

Amavi told French daily the Nice-Matin: "We spoke with Aston Villa, I was upfront with them, the club were in return.

"If I have to leave, there will be no problem.

"I have ambitions. I want to play in Europe, for a club that play in all the competitions", the left-back continued.

"The transfer window still has a long time to run and I must be patient.

"I've been played on the transfer list."

Amavi also admitted that clubs have already come forward to discuss potential moves, though as yet no concrete bids have yet to be made for his services.

The defender also held out the prospect of him moving to a club in the Premier League, even if he is ready to leave England for the right challenge.

"There are clubs that have come to enquire and we've talked, even if there is nothing concrete yet.

"I love the Premier League, it is the league that I like enough, but I am open to other countries.

"If the sporting challenge is interesting, I will go ahead, I won't think twice", Amavi added.

Still just 23 years old, Amavi has already been linked with Marseille, Monaco, Atletico Madrid and former club Nice.

It remains to be seen if he is handed the opportunity to stay in English football.
