Leeds United are in talks with FC Twente to sign Mateusz Klich after seeing the Dutch club reject their first proposal for the midfielder.

Klich only joined the Tukkers last year from German side Kaiserslautern for a nominal fee and the Eredivisie outfit are now willing to cash in and sell the player to Leeds.

But Twente will only let Klich leave for a price they view as acceptable.

According to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, Twente and Leeds remain locked in talks over Klich, as they search for a fee acceptable for both sides.

Twente are already planning for life without the Poland international in a clear sign they believe he will soon head through the exit door.

It is unclear who at Leeds identified Klich as a potential signing.

The Whites are operating a continental style management structure, with a head coach, sporting director and recently a new head of European recruitment having been appointed.

Leeds have also just handed the head coach job to former APOEL coach Thomas Christiansen.
