New Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen feels the congratulatory messages from his former players and club are a sign that he did something good at his previous job at APOEL Nicosia.

The 44-year-old Dane was presented as the new Leeds boss on Monday this week as the club hope to see him lead the Whites back to the Premier League as soon as possible.

He won the league title in Cyprus last season and APOEL did beat Spanish giants Athletic Bilbao on their way to the last 16 of the Europa League too.

Christiansen agreed to part ways with APOEL after losing the Cypriot Cup final and moved to England, but according to the Dane he has only received good messages from his former club.

He admits that many of his former players have congratulated him for landing the Leeds job and Christiansen believes that it is a result of his good work with APOEL.

The new Leeds manager told LUTV: “The most important thing is to do something that you like.

“Not because you are getting good money or the status of being a coach but that you like what you do, that you have something to bring to the fans, to the players and everyone can improve and happy with what they have learned.

“I am getting this feedback now because I have got so many messages congratulating me for signing with Leeds from many players and all the board members from APOEL and that means I left something good at these clubs.

“And when it comes to the players, [it means] more.”
