Premier League side Everton are expected to complete the signing of Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez after meeting his release clause, despite interest from Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish side have a release clause worth £5.2m in Ramirez's contract and, according to the BBC, Everton have activated it.

The 21-year-old has managed a total of 31 appearances in La Liga for Malaga, scoring 14 goals and has also set up five more for his team-mates.

Ramirez, who is presently playing for the Spanish Under-21 team at the European Championship in Poland, had in fact completed a medical with the Toffees prior to leaving for the tournament.

And now that the formalities have been completed, the Barcelona academy recruit is expected to complete a move to Goodison Park when the transfer window opens in July.

Everton will be delighted to be bringing another striker through the door, especially given the uncertainty over Romelu Lukaku's future.

Ramirez will be manager Ronald Koeman's third signing of the summer after the arrivals of Jordan Pickford from Sunderland and Davy Klassen from Ajax.

The former Southampton manager is also interested in moves for Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and Burnley defender Michael Keane.
